Derrick and Lindsey have been married since 2009 and have 4 beautiful children. Daelen, Ella, Kara, and Davis. Derrick was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida and moved to the Houston area in 2007. Lindsey is a native Texan though, growing up in the greater Houston area.
Derrick has been in full time ministry since 2007, most of which was spent investing in the next generation. From 2017-2019, Derrick was a resident with the Houston Church Planting Network. In September of 2019, Derrick and Lindsey were commissioned to plant Collective Church.
While praying about this new direction and asking God for confirmation, we received a message from an old mentor. The message said “Hey, this is random, but I was praying this morning and felt like God said you two are starting a Church.” Wow! God spoke to someone we hadn’t talked to in many years to confirm this calling. From that point on, we said YES. We knew there was a long and hard road ahead. So what was next?
A close friend of ours recommended a training program called the Houston Church Planting Network. They have been networking with and training church planters for years in Houston., so we applied for a residency. By God’s grace we were accepted. From 2017 to 2019, Derrick was learning from some of the best Pastors and leaders in the Houston area. We are so thankful for this network and the training they provided us.
On January 26th, 2020 Collective Church was officially launched.
